Arncliffe is a working class suburb in the inner south of Sydney, approx 10 kms (12 minutes by train) from central Sydney. It's never going to make a list of Sydney's most fashionable suburbs (though it was once - 150 years ago!) It's where I've lived for the past 22 years, and I love it, so I want to share some of its quirky bits, history, and, yes, beautiful parts, with whoever is interested.

Oooh .. this Lane was named after my great grandparents! They had the property running on the high side of the lane. It was a stunning old house. Mum's Uncle Eddy had a house on the property too. It had a coach house down the back of the property (which mum and dad lived in when they were first married in the 1960's). Those were the days :D I'll see if I can dig up any more info :D
Also I see you mentioned the Scots Club at the end of the lane. The Butterworth's were of Scottish ancestry. I wonder if they had any involvement with the club?
